Hey, let’s increase the interactivity of Listamania and see what you fine folks reading this here bit of text think before I commence work on the video itself. The next Listamania’s topic…Worst WWE PPV Main Event.

There’s plenty to choose from…Hogan vs. Undertaker from Judgement Day 2002, Triple H vs. Randy Orton from Wrestlemania XXV, Undertaker vs. Undertaker from Summerslam 1994, Roddy Piper vs. Jerry Lawler from King of the Ring 1994, Kevin Nash vs. King Mabel from Summerslam 1995 to list just a few stinkers off the top of my head.

If this works, more videos will be dealt with in a votely fashion.

Or if it bombs it’ll be back to thinking I know best.

Anyway, vote via comment section below!

  • StrawberrySwing

    Undertaker vs. the Dudley Boyz.

  • Bear Hugger

Oh, that one’s simple. Scott Steiner vs Triple H, Rumble 2003. It was a main event, okay?

    • idiot

      That wasn’t a main event..

  • Terra Ryzing

Any main event involving Big Show post 2006

  • Terra Ryzing

Kevin Nash vs Triple H Hell in a Cell Badd Blood 2003

    • Ethan Demedeiros

That match was pretty good. Far from the best HIAC match but it was good.

  • Crimson Al-Khemia

Lawrence Taylor vs. Bam Bam Bigelow

  • Stuart Bennett

John Cena vs Johnny Ace from Over The Limit. Because Holy Shit why was that the main event?

  • Mitchell Nance

    Extreme Elimination Chamber

    • Epilef

      Oh, I liked it!

  • Terra Ryzing

Undertaker vs Mordecai Judgement Day 2004

    • MaffewOfBotchamania

…some of you guys are seriously high.

      • Boris the spider

        I certainly am @4:20

      • Terra Ryzing

      • Toki Helfury

Mordecai’s gimmick and look alone should qualify any of his matches for this list

    • Zack

      Never happened

  • mothehawk

    Cena/Rock WM29

    • Triple God

That match was good, wrestling wise probably better than Rock Vs. Cena I
The dead crowd is what ruined it however.

      • Mr. SLAP NUTS

That match was a spot for stop match aka a spotfest

        • Triple God

I thought they worked good until the end with nonstop finishers…however it did liven up the crowd and of course Rock was injured so that was only shit they could do.

  • Kieran Mitchell

Has to be John Cena vs John Laurinaitis at Over the Limit 2012

  • Matthew Sullivan

The Miz v. Cena WrestleMania XXVII. Because The Miz.

    • Rayquaza

No it was shit because of the Rock

      • Triple God

It was shit because neither Miz or Cena can work well together.

        • Gabriele Sciarratta

Definetely agree: Miz vs. Cena was shitty because they can’t work well together.
…but Miz’s video package was hyper cool, and better than the match itself

        • Lie Maid

Except they did exactly that on several occasions. It sucked balls because of overbooking in order to turn that year’s Wrestlemania main event into a glorified commercial for the following year’s main event. It made both Cena and Miz bit players in their own title match so Rock could hog the spotlight.

Honourable mention would be the Miz/Cena I Quit match, but not because the match itself was bad (it was actually pretty entertaining), but because the booking was retarded. Have Miz dominate the entire thing, then IMMEDIATELY quit just seconds after being put in the STF by a weakened opponent. He never recovered from that.

    • 1heroeanónimo

ding ding ding the winner is here !!!

worst ever, for this WM i stopped 4 years watching wrestling i forgot the passion

    • john

I just remember watching the reaction for that match and it was basically…. “Cena vs Miz? THATS the Main Event? Really?”

  • Oliver Hope

Khali vs Batista, punjabi prison. Absolute train wreck

    • Triple God

That match wasn’t exactly that bad. Batista made it watchable.

    • Gustavo

      it was good

  • BadNewsProwler

Cena vs Rock at Mania 29

  • Slammy

Cena vs Big Show, No Way Out 2012

  • Philip Sam

John Cena vs John Laurinitus Over the Limit 2011. Or Randy Orton vs Big Show Survivor Series 2011

    • Slammy

      Neither of those happened.

      • Peter Smith

Big Show vs. Orton took Place at Survivor Series 2013

    • Mike

      you mean OTL 2012?

    • Triple God

      Wrong years

  • Matthew Sullivan

Or Yokozuna v. Bret Hart at WrestleMania IX just because of the shit that followed with Hogan.

  • Robert Q. Seidelman

Royal Rumble 1997: Shawn Michaels Vs. Sid. Also of note, I would agree with King of the Ring 95 in Kevin Nash & Bam Bam Vs. Sid and Tatanka.

  • Martin Rowe

    The Extreme Elimination Chamber

  • ziggles

Triple H vs Undertaker King of the Ring 2002

  • Mr. Enforcer

Cena vs. Johnny Ace, Over The Limit 2012.

  • Augusto Joaquin Lizarraga Mari

Royal Rumble match 1999 starring an empty ring!
Cena vs Orton Royal Rumble 2014

  • Stuart Bramley

Cena vs Laurinaitis has GOT to be number 1 with a bullet. What an abortion of a match. Elimination Chamber from December to Dismember maybe? Triple H vs Randy Orton, WrestleMania 25, that’s gotta be there

  • Vincent M.

Orton vs Big Show at Survivor Series 2013 has to be mentionned.
Cena vs Johnny Ace at Over the Limit 2012 too. Why the fuck was that a main event ?

  • Boris the spider

The wcw clusterfuck with Warrior & hogan

    • Lie Maid

Which WWF pay-per-view did that take place on?

      • Halloween Havoc ’98 but that wasn’t the main event. The main event was Goldberg vs. DDP which was aired on Nitro the next day for free because the PPV ended because the Hogan/Warrior match dragged so bad that by the time the main event between Goldberg/DDP started. The PPV feed ended forcing WCW to refund those who bought the PPV.

        • Brandon420

          WCW PPV though?

          • Yep, it’s a WCW PPV. That was the beginning of the end as far as WCW PPVs….although Starrcade ’97 was really the beginning of the end.

          • Brandon420

Lol appreciate the info but I am aware, I was trying to refer that the article is WWF/E matches…

  • Reid

Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Lawrence Taylor.

  • Matt

    Surely the poke of death

    • Slammy

      Pay Per View, not TV.

    • Lie Maid

And WWF/E, not WCW. Failure on every level.

  • Slammy

Hogan-Warrior at HH 98 would be typically topical.

    • Jorts

DDP vs. Goldberg was the main event there, even if a lot of people didn’t get to see it.

    • Lie Maid

It clearly says WWE main events.

  • Red Rocket

    Royal Rumble 2014?

    • Stuart Bramley

there wasn’t actually anything wrong with the match itself other than who won

  • Waheem

    Orton vs Big Show SS2013
    Cena vs Rock WM29
    Laurinaitis vs Cena OTL2012
    Miz vs Cena WM27
    DX vs Spirit Squad Vengeance2006

  • John Lamm

Cena vs. Johnny Ace, Over the Limit 2012. Not only a God awful match and hugely unworthy main event, but they pushed Punk and Bryan’s wrestling clinic FOR THE TITLE below it. Not to mention Cena being a huge bully in it. Be A Star John!

    • Guest

Considering the way Laurinitis kept screwing Cena It All Makes Sense In Context.

    • Guest

Considering the way Laurinitis kept screwing Cena It All Makes Sense In Context.

  • Terra Ryzing

If you can count it. Royal Rumble 1999

  • Eric

-Jerry Lawler vs. Roddy Piper, King of the Ring 1994
    -Undertaker vs. Underfaker, SummerSlam 1994

  • Tormentor

Orton vs Big Slow Survivor Series 2013

  • ZigZag1992

Cena vs Laurinaitis, Cena vs Big Show @NoWayOut, Orton vs Big Show @SurvivorSeries, every cluster fuck of overbooked match during Bully Ray’s title reign

  • Matt Bryane

Wrestlemania XI – Lawrence Taylor vs. Bam Bam Bigelow

  • Marshal

    Orton Bigshow Surviror Series ’13

  • G-Man

My memory is terrible. So, I’ll go with a match that bored me to tears: Trips/Lesnar at Summerslam 2012.

    • Mike

you mean you were bored by THE PERFECT STORM?

  • theslimjames

Mark Henry v Kurt Angle, Royal Rumble 2006?

  • CoworkerJim

Miz/Cena I Quit match at Over The Limit. Cena gets beat half to death, they redo the RR 99 gimmick and then Cena hits 3 moves and Miz quits.

    • ColeYote

Oh, yeah, I successfully repressed that one.
… Of course I’d still go with the WM9 clusterfuck. Gotta fill out the other 9 entries, though!

  • One Man Gang Bang

Only one correct answer really, John Cena vs John Laurinaitis at Over the Limit 2012

  • Fez8396

Hogan vs Sid from Wrestlemania VIII

  • Francisco Plaza Gajardo

John Cena vs John Laurianaitis at Over the Limit 2012; Undertaker vs Dudleys Great American Bash 2004; DX vs Spirit Squad vengeance 2006; Cena vs Khali at One Night Stand 2007

  • Mitch Cote

John Cena vs Rock I and II

    • Triple God

Oh please there have been worse matches than those.

  • Mr. Enforcer

    Dishonourable mentions go to

Randy Orton vs, Big Show – Survivor Series 2013
Cena vs. The Rock – WrestleMania 29
Sycho Sid vs. Undertaker – WrestleMania 13
Diesel vs. Sycho Sid – In Your House 1 & 2 (1995) (both were terrible matches, as you’d expect)
Bret Hart vs, Yokozuna – WrestleMania X
Hulk Hogan vs. Yokozuna – WrestleMania IX (was the last match, so the main event).
Hulk Hogan vs. Sid Justice – WrestleMania VIII (Promoted over Macho Man vs. Ric Flair, utter bullshit)
Hulk Hogan vs. Sgt Slaughter – WrestleMania VII
Roddy Piper vs. Jerry Lawler – King of the Ring 1994 (how much do they weigh?)
Triple H vs. Kevin Nash – Bad Blood 2003 (whole PPv was a shitfest)
Triple H vs. Chris Jericho – WrestleMania X8 (not really a terrible match, just horrible placement after Rock vs. Hogan)
John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels – WrestleMania 23 (finish killed the crowd)
Triple H vs. Randy Orton – WrestleMania 25
Diesel vs. British Bulldog – In Your House 4 (1995)
Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels – Survivor Series 1997 (even without the screwjob, was a pretty bad match overall)
Hulk Hogan & Ultimate Warrior vs. Sgt. Slaughter, Col Mustafa & General Adnan – Summerslam 1991
Roddy Piper vs. Mr. T – WrestleMania 2 (was the main event of their portion of that Mania)

  • YBCZ

Most of what I would suggest has already been listed, so a less obvious choice: Rock vs. Goldberg at Judgment Day 2003. Just a phenomenally boring match.

    • Mr. Enforcer

      That was actually Backlash 2003.

      • YBCZ

        You’re correct! My bad.

  • Zeb Kultar

Hulk Hogan vs Yokozuna Wrestlemania 9.

I believe it counts as the main event.

  • Dave

I’m surprised Kevin Nash vs. Goldberg at Starrcade ’98 hasn’t had a mention yet!

    • Guest

Also, you can add Hogan vs. Sting at Starrcade ’97 with that clusterfuck of events with Nick Patrick & Bret Hart.

    • Mr. Enforcer

Because it’s WWF/E shows the list is for.

    • Guest

Why because someone had the common sense to book Goldberg’s streak being broken?

  • Fernando Silva

Sabu vs John Cena can’t remember the year, Goldberg Vs Lesnar WM XX was a Main event right? HHH Vs Sheamus WM 26, Big Show vs JBL No way out 20xx.

  • Kadoukan

Rock vs John Cena, Wrestlemania 28 purely for how slow the Rock was or John Cena v John Laurenitis cos that was god awful

  • Curtain Jerker

Royal Rumble 2014- with the Boo-tista victory. BOO-tista

  • Suit Williams

Cena vs. Big Show No Way Out 2012
Any Cena vs Miz, if I had to choose one, the I Quit match
Angle vs Henry Royal Rumble ’06

  • Nick Dufrene

How’s about… Bret Hart v. Bob Backlund? Submission match, 1994 Survivor Series.

    • Mr. Enforcer

      Wasn’t the Main Event.

      • Nick Dufrene

It was for the WWF Championship. It WAS the main event, despite the lineup of the card.

        • dennett316

No….despite what the WWE tries to tell us when it comes to Wrestlemanias having 4 main events, that’s not how it works. Last match on the card is the main event by definition.

  • Dave

Undertaker vs. Austin, SummerSlam ’98. All that hype and they couldn’t work the match that well.

    • Nick Dufrene

That’s because Taker knocked the shit out of Austin within the first couple minutes of the match and Austin got a little loopy because of it.

  • David Benavides Rebello

Wrestlemania 20 main event, because it never happened.

    • BringBackBenoit

The one where Triple Ego rolls around in the ring then taps out for no reason.

  • Edgar Velasco

    Taker VS taker summerfest 1994

  • Todd O. Massey

Undertaker v. Dudleys, Great American Bash 2004.

  • GabetheGEN

The handicap match between the Undertaker and the Dudley Boyz in the 2004 Great American Bash PPV.

Not main event worthy whatsoever. Completely boring and that the attending people clearly see a stunt double instead of Paul Bearer being in the cement chamber. Just executed horribly.

  • Nick Dufrene

Cena vs. ANYONE. 2006-2014. The only exception being vs. Punk at MITB 2011.

    • WhosYoHero

Hey, Mr. “Smart-ass Wrestling existed before 2012”, you DO know Cena has put on excellent main event matches throughout his tenure?

      • Nick Dufrene

Hey, you DO know that I don’t give two shits about your Cena-sucking opinion?

        • WhosYoHero

          • Rocksault

No good matches from 2006-2014… It would appear that Nick Dufrene can’t see John Cena.

      • Fernando Silva

        Name two matches

    • dennett316

Nonsense…he even got a decent match out of the Great Khali in that time frame. Smark stereotype ahoy! I’m sure you also hate HHH as well.

    • Triple God

      Vs. HBK WM 23
      Vs. HBK London
      Vs. Edge Unforgiven
      Vs. RVD ONS
      Vs. Umaga RR 07
Couple of Cena’s best matches you typical 10 percenter and I fukn loathe Cena.

Oh and Punk Vs. Cena at MITB was garbage, complete botchfest, their match at NOC 2012 is way better.

  • Senor Bacon

In Your House ’96 Carribean Strap Match. The power in the arena went out during the match
between Steve Austin and Savio Vega.

    • Nick Dufrene

He wants the MAIN events of the PPV, not the mid-card matches.

  • Peter Smith

John Cena vs The Miz WrestleMania 27

  • Davide

John Cena vs John Laurinaitis Over the Limit 2012, Rock vs Cena WM 29, Big Show vs Randy Orton Survivor Series 2013

    • Nick Dufrene

You DO know that wrestling existed before 2012 right?

      • Davide

Of course, I just said the terrible ones i remember

      • Davide

Really?!? I’d have never known that if it wasn’t for you. I just said the terrible ones i could remember in that moment.

  • Juan Dinner

    Royal Rumble 2014.

  • WhosYoHero

You really can’t beat having Miz on the main event of the biggest show of the year as THE worst WWE main event in history.

  • Andrew Flintoff

Randy Orton vs big show survivor series 2013

  • Antonio Cesaro

Orton vs Big Show at Survivor Series 2013, what a waste

  • Nekro G

I was gunna comment a match until i saw that Cena vs Laruenitis and I was like oh yeah…Def that match

  • dennett316

John Cena vs The Miz at Wrestlemania 27. Some will immediately say “well what did you expect?”, but they had a much better match before this on Raw when Miz was nowhjere near the title, and then had a better match after WM on Raw as well. To add to just the match quality, the way it finished sucked as well with The Rock giving Miz the win to set up Rock vs Cena, both Miz and the title itself were distant after thoughts in the whole process.

My backup choice would be the awful Extreme Chamber match at December to Dismember. The worst chamber match, the worst hardcore match, Punk and RVD eliminated early to REALLY kill the crowd…just fucking awful.

  • ,nm

Triple H vs. Vladimir Kozlov at Survivor Series 08 at least deserves an honorable mention

  • Dynamo11

My money goes to Big Show vs Orton at Survivor Series 2013. In fact Big Show could appear in a lot of nomiantions

  • Straight Edge Disciple

Big Show vs. Orton, Survivor Series 2013. Worst match I have ever had to watch live.

  • thatjewguy

Ok i’ll say Cena v The Great Khali One Night Stand 2007

  • Riccardo TheCiz Giunta

i have to say Kane vs Cena ambulance match EC 2012

  • Rayquaza

Cyber Sunday 2006 Champions’ Triple Threat…

  • mrmaineventer

The Miz main was the main event for Wrestlemania XXVII. Nuff’ said!

  • SexGodGodofAlltheSex69

Bischoff vs Teddy Long Survivor Series 2005

  • Sky

    Haitch vs. Orton at WM25

  • Conor

John Cena vs. The Great Khali, One Night Stand ’07
Triple H vs. Scott Steiner, No Way Out ’03
Batista vs. King Booker, Survivor Series ’06

  • Victor Duran

    Brock lesner vs goldberg

      Wasn’t the Main event

  • Butch

Way too many to choose from, so I won’t pick just one:

Extreme Elimination Chamber – December to Dismember
    Cena/Khali – Judgement Day 2007
    Mabel/Diesel – Summerslam 95
    Undertaker/Henry – Unforgiven 07
    Hogan/Undertaker – Judgement Day 2002
    Orton/HHH – Wrestlemania 25
    Luger/ Yokozuna – Summerslam 1993
    Batista/JBL – GAB 2005
    Cena/R-Truth – Capitol Punishment
    Miz/Cena – Wrestlemania 27
    CM Punk/Ryback – Hell in a Cell 2012

  • Victor Duran

    Undertaker vs brock lesner

    • sexyfreakbeastoneword

which one? Plus the wrestlemania match wasn’t the main event.

  • TheBithicyleThieves

John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis in a comedy match at Over the Limit 2012. It was made even worse in that it got higher bidding than a WWE Championship match between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan at the same PPV.

  • Adeyuk99

Diesel Vs British Bulldog IYH 4

  • Peter Siddorn

I would go with Undertaker Mark Henry Unforgiven 2007 A basic Taker Squash

  • Peter Siddorn

Or Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan vs, DDP and Jay Leno from Road Wild 98

  • Enzo Chocobar

Randy Orton vs Big Show Survivor Series 2013

  • Steve Cunningham

Diesel vs British Bulldog – IYH 4 Great White North
Triple H vs Chris Jericho – WM X8

  • Robert Hunter

Orton vs Big Show Survivor Series 2013, good god that was awful

  • Steve Cunningham

Hulk Hogan vs Sid Justice – WM VIII
Shawn Michaels vs Vader – Summerslam 96

  • I can think of right now from recently is Cena vs Lauranitis. Going back further, I’d have to say the WrestleMania 9 main event. Fuck that.

  • Lie Maid

Surely has to be the Elimination Chamber match from December to Dismember. Not just because the match itself was nothing to write home about, but because of just how out of touch WWE’s booking was in thinking ECW fans – even ones who just casually knew the product via WWE itself – would enjoy the match. Only three guys in there people wanted to see win, two of whom were eliminated early so as not to distract from Lashley or the Big Show and the other one never even made it into the match due to a bait and switch angle earlier in the evening and was replaced by Hardcore Holly. Utter, utter fuck.

    • Matthew Johnson

I’ll second the Extreme Elimination Chamber. After how dumb the rest of 2006 was, that match & the fallout from it was the last straw for me, turning me off of WWE until just this year.

To be fair though, Sabu was only taken out because he failed a drug test the previous day.

  • Enrique De La Riva

Does Piper vs Mr. T at Mania 2 count are is the last match considered the main event?

  • Patrick Vint

Cena vs. R Truth, Capitol Punishment 2011. I will accept nothing less.

  • Vince McMahon vs. Hogan in a Street Fight at WMXIX. The only thing that saved that match was the Piper run-in at the end.

  • C collz

    hogan v yokozuna

    • Scott Steudler

      I vote for this one.

Hogan’s politicking, Yoko and Fuji giving Hogan a challenge in a very un-heel like fashion, and a match that was simply Fuji trying to blind Hogan, Hogan knocks out Fuji, leg drops Yoko, and wins the strap… There might have been other bad main events, but a bad main event on the biggest stage of the year… yeah, that trumps everything else

      • BringBackBenoit

Are you forgetting Miz headlinig Mania

        • Scott Steudler

That was bad too, but it didn’t end with some backstage politician pulling strings and going out there to more or less take the title from someone who just won it, regardless of if the person is a face or heel.

  • Van Hammerstein Ballroom

IC champion Shawn Michaels and WWF Champion Diesel vs. Tag Team Champions Owen Hart and Yokozuna in the so-called “triple header” from the IYH of the same name in 95. All titles on the line, whoever gets pinned or submits loses their belt. They guaranteed a title change and fans were left with our pants down, balls blowing in the wind wondering what the fuck just happened. I wondered why no one else mentioned this but then I realized I was probably the only one stupid enough to order it because WWF was the shits in 1995.

  • MachoMourn

Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and Tito Santana vs Ted Dibiase, Power and Glory, Rick Martel, and The Warlord at 1990 Survivor Series.

  • SindustriesLtd

    December. To. Dismember.

  • Shuckles

Bryan vs Orton from Battleground. The match was quite good until they gave us the worst ending to a WWE PPV ever. No winner and Big Show celebrates having won nothing.

  • Skyler Lane David Miller

The Elimination Chamber from December to Dismember. Absolute worst main event I have ever seen.

  • ColeYote

The clusterfuck that was the WrestleMania 9 main event has to be up there.

Seems like there’s some bias towards recent (2012-present) main events in the comments. Fresh in the mind, I guess.

  • Bob Dobalina

Orton-Big Show at Survivor Series 2013. My first PPV and I get that fucking thing??!?!?? Orton forgetting how to roll under a rope, Big Show lumbering around, Orton flexing. Terribly Awful

  • Guest

I’d list some suggestions but I’d rather go make some popcorn and watch the comment section generate more heat than Brock Lesnar breaking Taker’s streak.

  • He’s got a bicycle.

Big Show vs. Randy Orton: Survivor Series 2013
John Cena vs. John Lauranitis: Over The Limit 2012
    Cena vs. Miz: WM XXVII

  • Brent Dever

How bout warrior vs hogan halloween havoc?

    • Scott Steudler

Not main event, but for the PPV audience, you are in the right direction… let’s have everything run too long so when the main event comes on… oops, we just lost the feed!

  • Brent Dever

    Taker vs Sid WM13

  • TotalNonstopJacktion

Kane vs. The Undertaker with Steve Austin as the special guest referee at Judgement Day 1998. 3rd main event match between the two, Heel vs.heel and the crowd was dead, Austin was almost as bored as the crowd. Snooze fest.

  • SomeCretin

Does the final bout in Brawl for All count? If Yes, that. If No, I vote for Bad Blood 2003 HIAC match and Judgement Day 2007 Cena v Khali. Jaysus the Cena v Khali feud. Those were some dark times.

  • JD

    the extreme elimination chamber match
    slaugter vs hogan
    the 2014 royal rumble
    sid vs hogan
    sid vs taker

btw how many are you picking for this list?

  • Randy Orton v Daniel Bryan (Battleground 2013) & Randy Orton v Big Show (Survivor Series 2013)

  • SteJay215

Extreme Elimination Chamber – ECW December to Dismember 2006
Kevin Nash vs. Triple H – Bad Blood 2003
Jerry Lawler vs. Roddy Piper – King of the Ring 1994
Mankind vs. HHH vs. Steve Austin – Summerslam 1999
Shawn Michael vs. Sycho Sid – Royal Rumble 1997
The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan – No Way Out 2003
JBL vs. Booker T vs. Eddie Guerrero vs. Undertaker – Armageddon 2004
The Miz vs. John Cena – Over the Limit 2011

  • Robb T

Stone Cold vs Undertaker – Over the Edge 1999. The match itself was ok but, after what occurred earlier that evening, it shouldn’t have happened (at least on that night). The atmosphere was (understandably) muted and neither Austin, Taker’s nor the crowd’s hearts were in it. The finish was weak and had little reaction. The event should have been stopped after Owen Hart’s fall because it (again, understandably) killed the mood. Even if this match doesn’t make the list (because as a match it was actually ok) it should get a dishonorable mention.

  • Noddy

Can I suggest half of a main event? Survivor Series 2008, Kozlov vs HHH (vs Jeff Hardy) than became vs Edge, the first part of Kozlov and Triple H is just awful, I rather watch a Bella match

  • Ric PELER Bin Koslow Vaziri

    Cena vs Miz Wrestlemania 27

  • Bobby

Anyone forgot to mention Hogan vs Warrior at Halloween Havoc or Sting vs Jeff Hardy which lasted 3 minutes

    • ColeYote

Neither of which were in WWE

    • simonwhiteuk

      Beat me to it.

  • Dominique Dante Paige

Here’s my list and its so long of matches in the main event that were a whole lot worse. Instead of ten, we need a least twenty.

Triple H vs Vladimir Kozlov vs Edge – Survivor Series ’08
Taker vs Henry – Unforgiven ’07
Miz vs Cena – WM 27
Taylor vs Bigelow – WM 11
HHH vs Nash – Bad Blood ’03
DX vs Spirit Squad – Vengeance ’06
Miz vs Cena – Over The Limit ’11
Taker vs Hogan – Judgement Day ’02
    Cena vs R-Truth – Capital Punishment ’11
Cena vs Khali – Judgement Day ’07
Cena vs Khali – One Night Stand ’07
Undertaker vs Undertaker – SummerSlam ’94
Hogan vs Savage – WM 5
Kane Vs Cena – Elimination Chamber ’12
Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake vs. Zeus & Randy Savage – SummerSlam ’89
Yokozuna vs Hart – WM 9
Extreme Elimination Chamber – December to Dismember 2006
John Cena & Batista vs. King Booker & Finlay – Armageddon 2006
Cena vs Laurinitis – Over The Limit ’12
Royal Rumble 30 Man Battle Royal – Royal Rumble ’14

Thats twenty. So we need a top twenty matches video. Its a suggestion, but an awesome idea.

  • Little Bastard Thing

Kurt Angle vs. Mark Henry, Royal Rumble 2006, the only one Angle match under 6/10 ever, also made a ME over the Rumble itself, only because of the ring crash bullshit.

  • Jaims

Triple H vs Orton at Wrestlemania XXV. So bad even HHH admitted it, although he claimed it was because the Undertaker/Michaels match was so good they could simply never top it (when in fact it was a bad match no matter what preceded it).

  • jamesbdx

If wwe wasn’t in the title I’d have definately said Yoko/Jake the snake vs Bundy/neidhart from the Heroes of Wrestling PPV, the absolutely worst match I’ve ever seen by a mile.

    Regarding wwe :

    Hogan/andre from WM3
    Diesel/mabel SS 95
    Sid/taker WM13
HBK/God vs Shane and Vince Backlash 06 (God in a match?!!)
    Bret/Yoko WM10
    Taker/Hogan Tuesday in Texas

there’s probably a lot I forgot but that’s a pretty damn good start

    • Rocko

You cannot be serious with Hogan/Andre. Yeah the match itself was not good but that wasn’t the point.

Let me guess, the god thing offended you. Otherwise you would not list that (and McMahon and his god skits were hilarious). There have been way worse stuff. Plus it wasn’t the main event.

      • jamesbdx

hogan andre was a wrestling match and it was absolute shit from a wrestling standpoint. I know the significance of the match and everything and it certainly is the biggest main event Vince could ever produce but me I’m a fan of wrestling, not attendance figures (which WWF has spent the last 27 years lying about).

Concerning the God stuff, I quite honestly don’t give a damn about the storyline and even less the fact that God was involved, I’ve been a wrestling fan for over 20 years so I’m not easily offended by much but the match was ridiculously bad with or without a spotlight as a tag team partner and WWE billed the whole PPV as a 3 main event show so it does count in my opinion

        • Scott Steudler

Yes, from a wrestling standpoint, Hogan/Andre stunk.

But the thing is, it wasn’t as much about the wrestling, but rather, it was about a passing of the torch. I could excuse the poor wrestling some.

And the lying of the attendance figures. Ok, I can believe it was 80,000+ paid, and another 10,000+ papered, but if you think that there wasn’t around or above 90,000+ in that stadium, I think you are fooling few

  • 25-17

Triple H vs. Orton – ‘Mania XV

In fact, any of their matches, sans No Mercy 2007, are total shit

  • Tanner

I think Royal Rumble 2014 should be on the list. It was one of those pay-per-views where a bunch of people bitched about getting a refund

    • ColeYote

That was more for the booking than the Rumble itself, which was fine.

    • JWD77

Like the other reply essentially said: the match itself was largely good (lots of good competition, good moments, good stuff), it only started to suck when it became clear D-Bry wasn’t in it and when it became clear Batista was going to win it. If Daniel Bryan had been Batista in that match, done the exact same things, exact same moves, I imagine it would have been hailed as amazing.

  • Thomas A. McPike Jr.

My personal top 10 worst PPV main events I watched, including a select few from watching Botchamania:

    1. Extreme Elimination Chamber – December to Dismember
    2. Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna – WM IX
    3. Cena vs. Laurinaitis – Over the Limit ’12
    4. Nash vs. Triple H – Bad Blood ’03
    5. Cena vs. Miz – Over the Limit ’11
    6. Diesel & Shawn Michaels vs. Owen Hart & Yokozuna (and British Bulldog, kinda) – In Your House 3: Triple Header
    7. Randy Orton vs. Triple H – 25th Anniversary of WM
    8. Royal Rumble ’14
    9. Roddy Piper vs. Jerry “the King” Lawler – King of the Ring ’94
    10. Bryan vs. Orton – Battleground (match was great, no contest finish was totally f’d up and a waste of time/money, voiding the entire match altogether)

    • JWD77

That Battleground main event was so bad it voided the entire card, maybe even the cards of the PPVs before and after it as well. YOU DON’T DO THAT TO PEOPLE WHO PAY, WHAT, $50 TO WATCH YOUR EVENT!

      • Thomas A. McPike Jr.

I blame the fact that there’s way too many PPVs throughout the year in WWE that they use to drag out feuds and angles until the next major PPV where story arcs should conclude. Cutting back to just having all the major PPVs (WM, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble) and less than a handful of minor ones would really flesh out angles a bit better and help prevent the worst endings from happening.

That, or just write and book better finishes. C’moooonnn Creative, you can do better than that.

  • Dominique Dante Paige

Big Show vs Undertaker – GAB 2006 (because Khali had Elevated Enzymes in the Liver.)
Orton vs Cena – Summerslam 2009 (worst match on the card for the Raw Main Event.)
Steiner vs Triple H – Royal Rumble 2003 (Main Event for Raw.)
Steiner vs Triple H – No Way Out 2003 (Main Event for Raw.)
Randy Orton vs Big Show – Survivor Series 2013
Shawn Michaels and Diesel vs Owen Hart and Yokozuna – IYH ’95

  • TerryBoy

Hogan vs. Sid at WM 8 … One of the worst WM ending also … even with Warrior returning.

  • Stephen

The lack of people not IMMEDIATELY answering Nash / Sid (IYH1; IYH2 is actually half-decent for what it was) or Piper / Lawler makes me want to hunt all you whippersnappers down.

Cena / Johnny was bad, but it was kinda / sorta supposed to be. Those two were presented as normal matches and were just terrible.

(Honourable mention: the Survivor Series 1989 main event, which came down to Heenan v Warrior because of Tully’s alleged failed drug test. Arn’s awesome spinebuster on Shawn isn’t enough to save that mess.)

  • Retarded Guy in the Comments

  • JWD77

I can’t count how many PPVs I’ve fallen asleep during the main events of because John Cena was in them (oh wait, I can, 5 PPVs in two years, though admittedly one had Cena not in the main event, but I fell asleep during his match and missed the rest of the show), but this really isn’t even a competition (unless John Cena main evented against Doink at some point I’m not aware of):

Over the Limit 2012. Instead of ending the show with WWE Champion CM Punk defending the title against Daniel Bryan, that match went third from last (Ryback v Camacho went between it and the main event). The main event was John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis.

  • Chris Jericho

Cena/Miz WMXXVII because a. Miz main eventing WRESTLEMANIA, b. it felt so short for a Mania main event (Christ, Hogan/Warrior went longer), c. A COUNT OUT FINISH IN THE MAIN EVENT OF MANIA, and d. Rock restarts and gives Miz the win. Glad I didn’t pay money to see it.

  • Mark S.

Wrestlemania 30 and 31. Regardless of fan reaction they were predictable and shit. The WOW factor isn’t there anymore; the results were already fed to the fans months before the matches themselves started.

    • Tim

You must be an insider in WWE cause both those main events were definitely not predictable on the night itself, let alone months before. Bryan wasn’t even supposed to be in the match until a couple of weeks before the show and wasn’t confirmed in the match until Mania itself, and even then many people still thought it was possible they would go ahead with Batista winning anyway.
The Rollins cash in was certainly not predictable as I’m sure like 99.9% of the people didn’t see that one coming.
This year’s main event, that is what I call predictable and shit. Plus it was clear it would end like it did since the Rumble.

Yokozuna vs Hulk Hogan was the unscheduled main event for Wrestlemania IX. Bret Hart was completely over at that point and he lost the title minutes before the match to Yokuzuna. For some reason Hulk Hogan had to appear and beat Yokozuna quite fast. That hasn`t only weakened Bret who was then out of the title picture as he couldn`t compete against Hogan but also left space for the poorest of Hogans title runs in the WWF.
