CZW really fucked itself in the foot this year.

It’s biggest negative in recent years has been ”no feuds or reason to watch episodically” despite every other big name indy managing to do this well. So even though the likes of Biff Busick, Drew Gulak, Matt Tremont were given nothing this year, which made you just want to watch them elsewhere.

CZW’s biggest feud and series in 2014 was the awesome tag team series between Juicy Product and The Beaver Boys (with assistance from OI4K and Team Tremendous). This was then mercy-killed by the company after backstage shenanigans arose that may or may not have involved Niles Young’s ex.

Niles Young then won the world title from BAMF Biff Busick with no build-up, which was the equivalent to Fandango winning the world title on SmackDown.

Speaking of which, the potentially great Gulak vs. Biff series died a slow death when CZW decided to book a three-way match involving Chris Dickinson, then bait-and-switched and removed him just before the match started. This naturally caused the crowd to turn on the otherwise-good match and not give a single shit about a series that’s been great elsewhere in Beyond Wrestling. I could have included it in the video but unlike the amazing Gulak vs. Vortekx match (the one with the Brooklyn Brawler, Barry Horrowitz & Gillberg chants) it’s just uncomfortable to watch.

Joker was bait-and-switched more than once, Sabian won the world title at his lowest relevance (he should have won it in 2010) and DJ Hyde annoyed people for real-real by suggesting female wrestlers should blow him.

But anyway: Drake Younger’s send-off was amazing, Shane Strickland improved a lot and Lucky 13 & AR Fox always delivered so it’s not all doom and gloom. It’s a shame the best guys on the roster get fuck-all to do and the shite-arses get feuds, but that’s life.

Oh and former ref Brett Lauderdale repeatedly tried to sneak into shows as a paying attendee but was thrown out every time. I changed my mind, it was a very good year.
