It’s hard to put into words how this news made me feel. I first got into wrestling in the first place via the WWF Annuals ’93 and ’94, of which Savage was featured predominately despite not wrestling a hell of a lot in that period. My first impression of him was ”he looks like Robin Williams in Jumanji with that beard” and ”he’s dressed like a Christmas present”. It was this blend of crazyness mixed with fun that appealed wrestling to me, and there’s a good chance had I not read those books or looked at those insane cowboy hats and capes that I wouldn’t have pursued an interest in wrestling.
