Doug Furnas (on the right, with his regular tag-team partner Phil LaFon/Dan Kroffat) was a wrestler born in the wrong decade. Had he started earlier, he would have been given a manager to mask his less than stellar mic skills and his in-ring abilities and freakish strength would have got him far. If he’d been born later, companies would have cared more about his physique and calf muscles than his promo abilities.

His biggest breakouts in America were during WWF and ECW in 1997, where despite winning the ECW Tag Titles and hanging out with the Hart Foundation they were basically very talented cannon fodder.

Anyway, let’s remember the fella in a positive light: Thanks to the joy of YouTube, it’s easy to find Furnas/Kroffat’s excellent tag matches from AJPW. So if you’ve got 20 minutes and 31 seconds I’d recommend the following match from 1992.

If you haven’t got the time, then just watch this.

God-speed Furnas.
