Whilst everybody I know sits down and bores themselves silly with Final Fantasy In Name Only XIII-2, I thought I’d listen to one of the better themes from the last good Final Fantasy game…Lost Odyssey.

If music is supposed to set the tone and mood for a game, I can only assume FF13-2 is supposed to take place in a shit-nightclub. Lost Odyssey was by no means perfect, but at least you felt like you were playing an RPG. Here we have an example of one of the many battle themes in the game, pumping you full of excitement and tension that only the opening of Thunderbirds can imitate.

I got to meet Nobuo Uematsu at the very last day of MAGfest. He was waiting in the lobby with the rest of the Earthbound Papas (his band), so I asked him if he was a fan of Puroseau (having been informed earlier that he had aspired to become a wrestler in his youth). He responded with ”Yes, yes very much…are you?” which I wasn’t expecting. I racked my brain for famous Japanese Wrestlers (Kobashi? Muto? Maybe even Tanahashi?) but all I could say to him was ”Oh yes…Bob-u Sapp-u!” complete with hand gestures. Thankfully they all repeated my hand-gestures and cries of ”BOB-U SAPP-U!” as they burst out laughing. I’m still not sure if that counts as one of the highlights or lowlights of my life.
